According to Islam, Muhammad recieved a message from the archangel Gabriel, in Muhammad’s vison in 610 A.D. The archangel commanded Muhammad to preach the message of one god, of Allah. Thus, believing that God had chosen him as his messenger, Muhammad preached in his revelations in Mecca. Eventually, his popularity lead him to be persecuted by people in high power, who headed the cults that were popular in Mecca during Muhammad’s time.
