It starts from Chang'an (modern Xi'an), the capital of the Tang dynasty in China and reaches Duhuang, a important stopping/trading point. The distance between Chang'an to Duhuang is about 1000 miles. Then, to Marakanda (about 3000 miles), and to Antioch (about 5000 miles) and to Rome, it was 7000 miles.
