=>   $- ( x + 3 ) + \frac{3}{4} x = -5$

=>   $- x + \frac{3}{4} x = -5 + 3$

=>   $- \frac{1}{4} x = - 2$

=>   $x = (- 2) (- 4)$

=>       x = 8
