Respuesta :

The personification and imagery allows the poet to clearly describe the scene and (possibly) his thoughts on the war. It also can emphasise the poet’s irony. For example ‘swings corpses through the air’, no one would throw corpses through the air. But this clearly images the idea and ‘concept’ of what war does. Another piece of irony is ‘yet no one gives it a word of praise’ referring to no one praising war, it’s ironic because if this was a person, he/she would be treated differently. But since this is war, the concept of it is different, therefor different response. By using personification, this shows the contrast between living and dead/ solid etc.

Because of the poet's use of personification and imagery, he is able to effectively portray the circumstance and, presumably, his sentiments about the fight.

The War Works Hard:

Poet might also draw attention to the poet's irony. If the phrase "swings corpses in the air" was used, no one would throw bodies through the air. This, on the other hand, vividly shows the idea and "concept" of what war implies.

'Yet no one gives it a word of praise,' which is odd since if this were a person, he or she would be treated differently. Because this is a conflict, however, the concept of it is distinct, necessitating a different reply. Personification is used to highlight the distinction between alive and dead substances, for example.
