Consider an isothermal flat plate placed in a horizontal flow field. The plate is 1.5m long (in the flow direction) and it is kept at a constant temperature of Ts=100 °C. The working fluid in this thermal field is carbon dioxide. The gas approaches the flat plate at an average velocity of 2.2 m/s and temperature of Tw=200 °C. The ambient pressure is 1 atm. The hot carbon dioxide gas is cooled by the plate as it flows over its top and bottom surfaces. Determine the following parameters (show all work):
i) Local convection heat transfer coefficient at locations 0.5m, 1m and 1.5m from the leading edge of the plate;
ii) Average convection heat transfer coefficient over the entire plate;
iii) Total heat flux transferred into the plate through both surfaces.
