the LCM is 30, so we multiply through by 30

30 × 1/5(3x - 0.5) + 30 × 1/6 = 30 × x/5 + 30×0.5

6 (3x - 0.5) + 5 = 6x + 15

18x - 3 + 5 = 6x + 15

18x + 2 = 6x + 15

18x - 6x = 15 - 2

12x = 13

12x/ 12 = 13/12

x = 13/12
