Picric acid which is also known as 2,4,6-trinitrophenol. It is a pale yellow and odourless crystalline solid which is used as an antiseptic and to cure burns.
Tannic acid is used to treat burns because it prevents infection which can be developed after burns, and thus reduces amount of the scar tissue which forms. Tannic acid also reduces the patient mortality from burns.
