- A decomposition reaction involves the breaking up of a substances into its constituents as follows; AB -----> A + B
- A neutralization reaction refers to a reaction between an acid and a base to yield salt and water only as follows; HA + BOH -----> BA + H2O
- A single replacement reaction refers to a reaction in which a substance replaces another as follows; A + BC ---> AC + B
