Answer:
Explanation:The spread of disease in Africa has been detrimental to their development. Due to sharing drinking water, disease in just one person can multiply at alarming rates, as seen in the recent Ebola virus outbreak. Another aspect adding to this is hospitals. Poverty runs rampant in many parts of Africa, due to lack of infrastructure and failing to utilize current resources. There are few hospitals, the ones running often having an overworked staff and unsanitary conditions. Until improvements are made to their economy, the unfortunate truth is that disease is likely to stay.
There are several reasons why Desertification seems to be ravaging the African continent including:
- Unsustainable farming
- Overgrazing
- Deforestation
This has led to:
- Loss of groundwater
- Limited production of food
- Loss of livelihood
Unsustainable farming has led to much loss of the top soil in many areas in Africa and one of these is overgrazing. By allowing animals to keep grazing the same land, the area becomes damaged.
Deforestation to create land for settlement and farming had also contributed to desertification. As a result, there has been a loss of water which means that food cannot be produced effectively and farmers have lost their livelihood.
In conclusion, desertification in Africa is quite bad.
