(20pts) Why do you think some individuals risked themselves to help others when so many did not? (HOLOCAUST)

The Holocaust was based around fear. Fear of non compliance. The idea was to scare people that were safe into not speaking out in fear of too being punished. Others helped because it was the right thing to do. They saw through the anti semitism of the nazis and did the right thing. It takes courage to be brave and when facing death very few people have courage.

Because some people had family/friends that were in danger, they wanted to help others with their kindness, and some people knew they weren't gonna make it so they helped others.  Also some people did not help others because they were maybe in a hiding place with trusted others and knew that they would be able to stay alive for longer,- so they stayed in a hiding place or went into hiding.
