There are several different factors that contribute to mental illness.

We discussed the following:

- Genetics

- Traumatic Brain Injury

- Infection of the brain

- Tumor

- Chemicals (i.e. drug use)

- Effect of severe and persistent stress



Instructions: For this discussion post, choose one of the above influences aside from genetics.

Explain why or how this could lead into mental illness in your own words, and provide an example of the signs and symptoms.

For example: Genetics can influence a number of disorders. In fact, almost 50% of mental illnesses arise from genetics. One example would be Psychosis. Signs of Psychosis can include disorganized behavior, hallucinations, and delusions. Some symptoms include abstract reasoning and difficulties problem-solving, and extreme paranoia.
