Making GREAT Decisions
DRUG DILEMMA
Read the following situation, and then answer the questions. Remember to use the decision-making steps: Give thought to the problem, Review your choices, Evaluate the consequences of each choice, Assess and choose the best choice, and Think it over afterward.
Marcy is at her friend Naomi’s house. They are watching a movie on the VCR. Naomi’s parents have gone out for the evening. Shortly after her parents left, Naomi’s boyfriend Jake and his friend Kevin stopped by. Marcy knows Jake well, since he has been dating Naomi for several months. She only knows Kevin by his reputation, which is that of a “druggie.”
At first, they all seemed to be having a good time. Marcy was beginning to think Kevin was okay, but then Kevin pulled out a bag of cocaine and offered to share it with them. Jake and Naomi have never tried cocaine before, but seem curious about it. Marcy has never tried it either and does not want to now, but she feels pressure to go along with her friends. Marcy is faced with a problem.
1.What are some of the options that Marcy has?
2.What are the consequences of each option?
