The cycle that involves storing energy and releasing such energy through the use of mitochondria would be the carbon cycle.
The carbon cycle
One major event in the carbon cycle is the fixation of atmospheric carbon in the form of carbon dioxide to organic carbon in the form of glucose.
This fixation is called photosynthesis and is conducted by green plants. The process converts solar energy from the sun to chemical energy in glucose.
To unlock the energy, the glucose is hydrolyzed during respiration. The energy is stored in the mitochondria because they act as the powerhouse of every cell.
