Both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth talk about literally washing their hands because of the blood on them. Why do they keep talking about the blood on their hands? What is the symbolism of that desire to clean their hands?
It shows the fact that they know it is wrong to kill, but to them it is fine as long as they clean themselves of the crime. This symbolizes that they feel the need to cleanse themselves of the crimes they have committed.
