The passage below was written by a student to explain how energy flows while matter cycles through an ecosystem. Read the passage and answer the question that follows:....... The flow of energy through an ecosystem begins with the energy released by the sun. This energy is used by producers, plants, bacteria, or algae, which utilize the process of photosynthesis. In photosynthesis the producers create molecules of sugar which has energy that was obtained from the sun stored in the bonds of the sugar. These molecules of sugar are either used in plants for life processes or stored. The stored molecules can be obtained by a consumer by eating the producer. The consumer uses the molecules sugar obtained from the producers in the process of cellular respiration which releases the energy stored in the bonds of the sugar molecule for life processes that include building storage molecules such as fats that store the excess energy. Additionally, in cellular respiration carbon dioxide is released back into the atmosphere, making it available for producers to use again in photosynthesis. This process continues as each consumer is consumed. Eventually all energy in an ecosystem is released into the atmosphere as heat............What concept would not be a correct addition to the student’s explanation about how energy flows and matter cycles through an ecosystem?
A) Consumers use the energy in the stored sugar molecules obtained from the producer to create proteins.
B) Plants use cellular respiration to break down the molecules of sugar that they create to use for life processes, in addition to releasing carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere.
C) Energy that is excess is released as heat into the atmosphere by each organism.
D) The energy released as heat is reused by the producers to make more molecules of sugar.

Respuesta :

Its C i think, but i not sure:)))

The statement B is not correct addition to the student’s explanation about how energy flows and matter cycles through an ecosystem

What do you mean by Environment?

An environment may be defined as the complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors (such as climate, soil, and living things) that act upon an organism or an ecological community and ultimately determine its form and survival.

The given statement is incorrect in such a way that after the completion of photosynthesis by plants oxygen gets back into the atmosphere, not carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is consumed in this process while sugar and oxygen are evolved as byproducts.

Therefore, statement B is incorrect with respect to the passage given above.
