They obviously did not agree with what the north was doing. But there are many other ways to go about this problem, especially not making your own country just to get what you want. The north tried to have equal representation, and even though it wasn’t, the south could have worked around this opstacle, and negotiated with Lincoln, maybe even going as far as threatening to secede, but not actually doing it. The country as a whole worked together and supported each other for the most part, and the secession put an end to that. Overall, the southern states, in my opinion, did not have the right to secede, becasue there were so many other options that they could have tried first.
