Also, you would have to be able to read, write, and speak English. Also, you can pass a test on U.S. history and government, and you have good moral character. Another thing you have to do to become a citizen is that you need to swear that you believe in the principles of the U.S. Constitution and will be loyal to the U.S. Also, you can not establish a primary home in another country and have not spent more than one year at a time outside the U.S
