The person can call, text, IM, or voice chat with other people on the internet if he/she cannot leave the house. However, if they don't have an electronic device, he/she can always do other activities such as writing, reading, doing homework/house chores, or playing an indoor sport/exercise. They could also listen to music or watch videos to sooth their mind of depression or stress. Or, they could talk to inanimate objects to tell their feelings to. Or if not that, then invite a friend over to talk and do fun things with. Doing these activities could provide a minor to major distraction to the person's depression.
