The US has often been cast as the "world policeman" rather than the "world diplomat." Explain.

Especially in the times of Theodore Roosevelt who believed strongly in "Big-Stick Diplomacy," we have always wanted to govern over others, and this does not always mean to govern politely. The US and its history has often involved itself in other foreign matters as someone to resolve conflict to improve current circumstances. However; this is not always done civilly.

Our nation is dominant and as that stated, we help other countries to be as stable as they should and can be. The term policeman refers to our men in the navy, etc.. We enforce rules and make sure our world is not in trouble
