For the reaction HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H2O, how many moles of hydrochloric acid are required to produce 234.6 g of water?

Respuesta :

HCl + NaOH = NaCl + H2O

36.5 g HCl ------------ 18.0 g H2O
( mass g HCl ) ------- 234.6 g H2O

mass of HCl = 234. 6 x 36.5 / 18.0

mass of HCl = 8562.9 / 18.0

= 475.71 g of HCl

1 mole  HCl ------------ 36. 5 g
( moles HCl) ----------- 475.71 g

moles HCl = 475.71 x 1 / 36.5

moles HCl = 475.71 / 36.5

= 13.03 moles of HCl

hope this helps!
