3. The moon has phases, too. Why doesn’t that make us think the moon revolves around the sun, rather than around Earth?

I think because if it did revolve around the sun we wouldn't see the moon that much at nighttime since it would be revolving around the sun. But, since we see the moon quite a bit and since it would take around 27 days for the moon to revolve around the sun which means we would barely see the moon 3/27. I think it would make more sense to say the moon rotates around the earth.
