The PHARYNX (throat) collects incoming air from your nose and passes it downward to your trachea (windpipe).

The trachea widens and lengthens slightly with each breath in, returning to its resting size with each breath out.

The diaphragm contracts and moves downward. This increases the space in your chest cavity, and your lungs expand into it.

The bronchi become smaller the closer they get to the lung tissue
