Victor's conflict is not resolved at the end of "Seventh Grade."
Victor's conflict is the lack of confidence he has to befriend the girl he's in love with. This girl is called Teresa and Victor has the feeling that she is far superior to him and that she won't like him the way he likes her.
For this reason, to get closer to Teresa, Victor:
- Pretends to like things he doesn't like.
- Pretends to know how to speak French.
- Pretends to be a different person than he really is.
Although these lies give more confidence to Victor and draw him closer to Teresa, the conflict is not resolved at the end of the story, as Victor is still very afraid that Teresa will find out the truth and be upset with him.
With this, we can conclude that it is useless for us to try to fix our insecurities based on lies, because new insecurities will arise in this way.
