After World War I, President Woodrow Wilson played a role in shaping the Treaty of Versailles. Despite President Wilson's efforts, the United States Senate refused to ratify the Treaty. Which concern led the U. S. Senate to reject the Treat of Versailles?

Respuesta :

Answer:

After the war, the United States went back to an isolationist mood. People and many politicians didn´t want to see the country involved again in distant and costly wars. They feared the treaty could open the door to US engagements that would lead to wars started by other powers.

The Treaty of Versailles was not ratified because of the opposition by some groups of senators. Some senators questioned the article giving the League of Nations the power to declare war, they saw it as overruning the US Constitution. Another criticism was the obligation the US would have to impose embargoes on nations if the League decided so. So, there was not the required majority of two-thirds that was necessary and the Senate did not ratify it.

Explanation:

The United States thought it would be better to isolate them self’s from the rest of the world and entering this treaty meant being there for the rest of the world witch they did not want to do
