The construction of the transcontinental railroad in America in the 18th century brought about economic prosperity for the American populace because it made it far more easier and efficient to move goods and services over longer distance and this led to a boom in trade both domestic and international trades.

some of the goods moved included : coal, gold , timber, cotton , cattle and other kinds of of goods and services. but the cotton and cattle industries were the most positively affected. The Native Americans were the worst hit by the railroad construction because most of there lands and farms were destroyed during construction of the transcontinental railroad across America and also they were not allowed to work on the railroad even the Chinese immigrants and Irish immigrants .
