An increase in the earth's temperature commonly called global warming has caused glaciers and ice caps to melt. Just as we have more water when we melt ice with heat. The same principle is applicable here just that it takes a long period of time. If the earth's temperature continue to increase then overtime all the glaciers will melt. It is also important to note that increased temperature also results in increased evaporation. In cases where the water evaporated is not being replaced adequately, then the place will eventually dry up. Deserts were believed to be once occupied with water but got dried up due to climate change.
