Jean Piaget was a psychologist who developed a cognitive theory according to which, infants go through different stages since the moment they are born and until adolescence and with each stage their thinking gets more complex and logical.

The first of the stages according to Piaget is called the sensorimotor stage and it takes place since birth to approximately 2 years of age. During this time, the kids rely in their senses to gain understanding of the world around them.
