Internal fertilization is way more efficient than external fertilization. For an example, internal fertilization allows the baby to be protected by its biological parents. External fertilization on the other hand, is enough to put the baby in danger from predators. In the prehistoric times, for an example, the Velociraptor hunted in packs and was known to steal eggs and eat someone else's young. This comes to show that internal fertilization is more efficient in terms of protecting their young.
