Explanation:
The process of rising up of rock layers is known as the uplift. This uplifting of rock strata takes place due to certain reasons. They are as follows-
1) When hot intruding magma comes towards the surface, it lifts the rocks upward. This takes place both underwater on the ocean floor and on the land. Below the ocean, these hot magma forced to come out along the mid-oceanic ridge and on the land areas, it gives rise to the formation of volcanoes.
2) Due to the compressive forces, uplifting takes place forming the mountains and mountain ranges.
3) Domes are also formed that causes uplift due to the pressure exerted by magma.
