Documentary photograph aims to tell a story about a particular event or place.
Many famous documentary photographs are on subjects like poverty, war, violence,
and other negative parts of society. Can documentary photography focus on the
positive as well as the negative? Will it have the same power or emotion? Why or
why not?

Respuesta :

Yes.

Documentary photographs can focus on the positive inspite that it is about war, poverty and violence. Documentary films are based on real life or actual events that happened. Therefore, most of the issues about war are definitely settled or resolved. The good thing I noticed when watching war documentaries is the learnings of the people from the previous conflicts. Laws, peace treaties to different countries and alliances have been developed to prevent these issues to happen again in the future. It is also inspiring to watch a country who has been into war for a long time then recovered from it like what happened to Germany, US and Japan in World War II. The emotions will not be the same since transition of events happened from negative to positive. Emotions and ideas will be much stronger and it will form an inspiration.

As for issues regarding violence and poverty, it is still happening nowadays and it will be here longer until every one of us disregard this acts. It is negative,, but hearing stories of people who survived these events will inspire us too, like what we can get from war events. But since these issues are still happening until now, we can spread awareness about violence and poverty to minimize its effect and help the victims and possible future victims.
