Answer:
Conflict in literature means that any problem the protagonist has to overcome in order to solve a situation and accomplish their mission.
The conflict is relevant for any literature because it gives meaning to the whole text, like there has to be a problem to be solved. There are 2 types of conflict, internal and external conflict.
Internal conflict are the problems that happen inside the protagonist's mind, a struggle between two feelings fighting each other up to the point where the protagonist submits to one or none of the feelings and reaches a conclusion.
External conflicts involve every problem that can be caused by an external source, this being, another person, the nature, a machine, etc.
(i got this from another answer but i kinda trimmed it down)
(p.s with that last question i couldn't really help you out with that, because i haven't read that book or text but i'm sure if you read it then you could narrow it down the answer)
