Environmental adaptation. The tigers in the warmer areas do not need longer fur coats to survive, so they have evolved to only grow shorter coats.

When you have tigers which in warmer climates are observed to have thinner coats and in colder climates are observed to have thicker coats this shows us the mechanism of adaptation and natural selection in play. Because they have a warmer climate around them they can hae a thinner coat and vice versa.
