Answer & Explanation:

In summary, skeletal muscles are organs that are directly or indirectly attached to bone. Skeletal muscles serve a variety of functions including support and movement and homeostasis. Skeletal muscle contraction can result in muscle shortening and thus movement of the bone to which it is attached.

Functions of skeletal Muscles -

  1. Creation of Movement - Approximately 40% of the total body weight consists of skeletal muscles. Each cell of the muscle tissue is called muscle fiber. Our body's skeleton gives enough rigidity to our body that skeletal muscles can yank and pull on it, resulting in body movements such as walking, chewing , running , lifting, manipulating objects with our hands and picking our noses.
  2. Generation of heart - Contraction of muscle tissue generates heart , which is important for maintenance of temperature i.e homeostasis . For instance, if our body temperature falls , we shiver to generate more heat.
  3. Communication- Muscle tissue allows us to talk , gesture write and convey our emotional state by doing such things as smiling or frowning.
