Answer:

a. The heads of the Inquisition felt it was offensive, unfocused, and blasphemous.

Explanation:

The Feast in the House of Levi by Italian painter Paolo Veronese was originally commissioned for the refectory of Santi Giovanni and Paolo as a "Last Supper" to replace a work by Titian that had been destroyed by fire in 1571.

The painting, however, attracted the attention of the Inquisition, which considered it unseemly and unholy. In addition, there was the suspicion that two Germans sitting beside Christ in the work concealed a secret Lutheran message. The painter was summoned to appear before a court and firmly repudiated the accusation of lack of decorum, as well as defended the absolute right to freedom. Despite his defense the artist was ordered to correct the composition, but refused to comply with it and eventually changed the name of the work.

The immense painting is characteristic of Venetian Renaissance art in the use of classical architecture, deep perspective, rich colors and careful observation of details. The work evokes the splendor, magnificence and light of Venetian life
