Thomas Jefferson was a founding father and third president of the United States of America. He was born in 1743 in Virginia which was a British Colony at that time.
In 1776, he wrote the declaration of independence. In 1801, he became president. As president, he helped the United States buy the Louisiana Territory.
He helped double the size of the United States and he is remembered as a man who helped found and grow the country.
