Salut, comment allez-vous aujourd'hui ? (formal or plural you)

salut, comment vas-tu aujourd'hui ?  (informa you)

Hi, how are you today ?  

If you're using the formal "you", then you shouldn't say "salut" but "bonjour".

"Salut" is ok for friends, close relatives...

If you're talking to someone you don't know well, in a polite, formal way, then use "bonjour"......

Xtra info: VOUS= formal so if you were talking to someone you don’t know or someone you should be more polite to like a teacher ORRRR you use vous when addressing a group of people so if you were to say hi to a group of people like saying hi to your friends!
