Now,

$4x+6y=44$

$4x=44-6y$

$x=\frac{44-6y}{4}$

$x=11-\frac{6}{4}y$

$x=11-\frac{3}{2}y$------------------(equation 3)

Now substituting equation 3 in equation 2 we get,

$5x+3y=37$

$5(11-\frac{3}{2}y)+3y=37$

$55-(\frac{15}{2}\times y) +3y=37$

$55-37=(\frac{15}{2}\times y)-3y$

$18=7.5y-3y$

$18=4.5y$
