Difference between beliefs of cognitive psychology and behaviorists:

  • Behavioral Psychology also known as behaviorism tells us that all behaviors are acquired through interaction with the environment.
  • Behaviorists believed that observable behaviors were only aspect ins psychology that are worth considering.
  • Cognitive psychology is the study of mental functions and its main focus is in procuring, processing and storing of information in mind.
  • The research in cognition led to change in methodology used in 'psychotherapy' from a strictly behavioral to a more 'balanced approach' that combined both behavioral and cognitive therapy.
