Hammurabi's laws are among the oldest recorded laws in history. They were enacted by the Babylonian King Hammurabi in the eighteenth century BC, and constitute 282 laws. Hammurabi set the standards of behavior in his empire in Mesopotamia. It is worth noting that these laws were engraved on a seven and a half feet long column.
