Properties of water if it were a nonpelar melecule:
If water were a non-polar molecule it would lose most of its properties that make it unique and necessary for life.
First it will lose hydrogen bonding, which is a bonding between a hydrogen in one molecule and electronegative element in another molecule.
There will be no repulsion between molecules as they get closer if water was a non-polar molecule.
Water would no longer be a universal solvent; it would be incapable of dissolving other molecules. If there is no hydrogen bonding then there is no surface tension too.
