A series RL circuit contains two resistors and two inductors. The resistors are 33 Ω and 47 Ω. The inductors have inductive reactances of 60 Ω and 30 Ω. The applied voltage is 120 V.
What is the voltage drop on the 33 Ω resistor?

Answer:

Voltage across 33 ohm resistor is 33.886 volt

Explanation:

We have given that there is RL circuit which contain two resistance and inductance

Resistance of two resistor [tex]R_1=33\Omega \ and\ R_2=47\Omega[/tex]

So equivalent resistance [tex]R=R_1+R_2=33+47=80\Omega[/tex]

Inductance of inductive reactance [tex]X_1=60\Omega \ and\ X_2=30\Omega[/tex]

So equivalent inductive reactance [tex]X=X_1+X_2=60+30=90\Omega[/tex]

Now equivalent impedance [tex]Z=R+JX=80+J90=\sqrt{80^2+90^2}=120.4159[/tex]

Voltage is given as [tex]V=120volt[/tex]

So current [tex]i=\frac{V}{Z}=\frac{120}{120.4159}=0.9965A[/tex]

So voltage across 33 ohm resistor [tex]V=iR=0.9965\times 33=32.886volt[/tex]
