The US Supreme Court rightfully intervened in the dispute over the result of the presidential election in 2000. In the first place, the Supreme Court was asked to review the appeal against the Florida district court´s decision  - it´s a lower-level tribunal - to allow a recount of ballots in that state. The appeal was made by the Bush campaign. On the other hand, it was the Gore campaign that took the case to the Florida court. So, as we can see , both candidates saw as appropriate to involve the judicial branch of power in a matter concerning an election for the highest office of the executive branch.
