The geographic fields that study these settlement patterns are known as the settlement geography and are a branch of the human geography and are based on why, where and how people settle down in a specific geographical location and also focuses in the global patterns of the distribution from the place to place. Various forms of settlement dispersal and the evolution of the settlements histrionically is also studied in this aspect.
