World War I did not occur suddenly but was preceded by a condition that encouraged the war, including:
- There is competition between European countries in fighting over the colony
- There is competition in the industry and commercial fleets
- The emergence of military alliances
- The existence of an arms race of countries in Europe.
World War I ended because it turned out that Germany could be repelled by allied forces consisting of 23 countries, among them France, the United States, and Britain under the leadership of General Foch of France. The strength of the allied forces is very large, let alone supported by military equipment from the United States.
Due to the defeat of Germany on various battlefields, then on November 1, 1918, the Germans surrendered to the allies. While Turkey, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria first surrendered to the Allies. Then in 1919 Germany entered into a peace treaty with the Allies in Versailles. The agreement was known as the Versailles Agreement which was felt to be very detrimental to Germany.
