Root modifications have allowed plants to adapt to their environment.

Explanation:

Plants adapt to different habitats and environmental condition by making use of several modification in its parts like roots, stems, leaves etc. The roots always tend to be under the influence of gravity. The growth of plant roots in response to gravity is called geotropism.

Xerophytic plants grow in dry habitats where there is inadequate water supply. Thus the roots of Xerophytic plants grow deeper into the ground to get hold of underground water reserves. Halophytic plants live in salty habitats and thus have to cope up with the high levels of salt.

There are chances of dehydration. In order to prevent this,  the plants maintain a considerably higher amount of solutes in its root cells. This helps the plants to absorb enough water.
