Shari'ah is a set of Islamic laws that are based on the Quran, and responsible for dictating the rules of behavior of Muslims.
In Arabic, sharia can be translated literally as “the way to the source”, and is currently adopted in many countries with predominance of Islamic culture, either wholly or partially.
Shari'ah law is integral, meaning that the country uses Islamic law as the sole source for defining its legislation. In this case, the sharia forms the constitution of that nation.
In countries where Shari'ah dominates, there is no separation between religion and citizens' rights, as in Western countries.
