The cell cycle simply explains the repeating series of events about how the eukaryotic cell carries out its functions.

The cell cycle refers to the series of events that occur in a cell when it grows and divides. It should be noted that a cell spends most of its time in interphase. At this phase, the cell grows, replicates its chromosomes, and then prepares for cell division.

After then, the cell will leave interphase, undergoes mitosis, and then finally complete its division. When this is done, the resulting cell that is known as daughter cells enter their own interphase and a new round of the cell cycle will begin.
