is the world better off today, even with terrorism, because the threat of superpower nuclear attacks is gone?

Respuesta :

We can not say that it is really better off, as the terrorism is a huge treat, and the nuclear warfare is unfortunately still an option.

Explanation:

After the World War II, the world was in constant threat of nuclear warfare for several decades, with the United States and Soviet Union being the main actors i what is known as the Cold War. This period ended with the fall of the Soviet Union, but the threats have not gone away, just that they took another shape. The main threat has become the terrorism.

The terrorist organizations became much larger, wealthier, more influential, and they obtained lot of members. This started to led to gradual increase in terrorist attacks across the globe. Some of the terrorist organization even attempted to create their own states, and millions of people have been displaced, huge migration waves were caused, and lot of massacres have been committed. The terrorist organizations also managed to infiltrate and recruit people in other countries, and they are constantly committing attacks on the innocent civilians.

While the US - USSR conflict is no more, the threat of nuclear warfare still exists, and the main players in that may be India and Pakistan, two countries that are constantly on the verge of war. A conflict is always on the horizon, and it can have global effects. Also, North Korea should not be forgotten, as it has just about enough to cause a large scale disaster.
