Serbia is a country located on the Balkan Peninsula. Despite always being more favorable and closer to the east, or rather to Russia, the country has been making lot of effort in order to became part of the European Union. The European Union will benefit from having Serbia in its organization, and there are several reasons for that.

Some of the reasons as to why Serbia would be good for the European Union are:

good geographic/strategic location
the labor force is very competitive when it comes to wages
it has a relatively strong military
it produces some goods that are in high demand in the EU
it will contribute to more stable Balkan

Serbia is in between the western and eastern part of the Balkans, thus having a good strategic location, so by being in the EU, the Eu will benefit from eliminating the borders. Also, by having Serbia in the EU, the Eu will pretty much secure the Balkan from conflict, as it is one of the countries that has tensions will few others.

Serbia's labor force is competitive and its wage demands are much lower than in the West, so lot of companies from the EU will be investing in Serbia. This Balkan country produces very large quantity of wheat with high quality, which is a highly demanded product in the EU.

Last but not least, Serbia has a strong military for a country of its size, and it can contribute a lot when it comes to the safety in the EU, as well as for the missions of the EU in several parts of the world.
