Mary Shelley’s background:

Mary Shelley, daughter of William Godwin, a political philosopher and Mary Wollstonecraft, feminist is the author of Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818), Gothic novel. She also promoted and edited works of  Percy Bysshe Shelley, her husband and the great romantic poet. In London on [tex]\bold{30^{th}}[/tex] August 1797, Mary Shelley was born.

Her mother passed away shortly within a month. In 1816, Shelley conceived the idea of the novel, Frankenstein when she was spending her summer near Geneva, Switzerland with her stepsister, Claire Clairmont, John William Polidori and Lord Byron. She is known for the novel Frankenstein and her efforts to promote and publish Percy Bysshe Shelley's works. She died of brain tumor that caused illness at 53.
